Our thought life is so important. Thoughts affect our daily life, health included. Thoughts become emotions. Emotions become our attitude. Our attitude is our reaction, and our daily reactions make up our lifestyle. Fear based emotions produce toxic attitudes, and toxic attitudes produce toxic responses in the body. You guys. It is so important to be cautious about what we fill our minds with. Whatever we think about the most, will grow. I’ve experienced this first hand, but on the negative side. It’s only been within the last year that I’ve really grown and known how affective our thoughts are.
A few weeks ago, my youth pastor taught on “Thought, Feeling, Action.” Also known as Mind, Heart, Hand. It’s common for people to try and change the actions and results they don’t like, without changing the thoughts and feelings that led to those actions and results in the first place.
I picked a Bible verse at the beginning of the year for 2017. It’s Philippians 4:8 and it’s probably become one of my favorite verses. It says –
“Finally brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things.”
My mom used to tell me this verse over, and over, and over, and I never really listened until she explained to me how important it is that we protect what we think about. We shouldn’t be dwelling on anything other than what is true, honorable, just, pure, lovely, commendable, excellent, and praise-worthy. Believe me when I tell you it takes a lot of work to get out of the habit of thinking negatively, but it’s so possible. And when you do it, it’s a game changer.
I know that I always love challenges, so, I wanna challenge y’all to take your thoughts captive this week. Are they true? Are they pure? Are they lovely? Have a great week!
