June 11, 2017

Hi friends! We’re currently on a plane on our way to Utah for a convention! I just wanted to share some of my thoughts on traveling & trusting God through every little thing.

I always love flying, but once I get on the plane, I’m kind of a mess. Don’t get me wrong, the view from way up here is absolutely gorgeous, but the ride up is not my favorite part. We’re going through a little rough patch as I write this now, and it made me think of a few things.

Sometimes, when we’re in a great place, without any “bumps” in life, we don’t fully praise God for what He’s done & we take for granted a lot. The second the bumpiness happens though, we panic and try to take control even though it only stresses us out and doesn’t help with anything. We go to God and ask Him to make things easier and expect Him to do so even though it seems the only time we praise Him is when we go through trials. It’s important to be praising God in the ups and downs in life. It’s so comforting though to know that God is in control during the smooth and the bumpy. Life is hard and often the best places require some hard climbs. Jesus is right here, doing life with us. I’m listening to a song called “I am Yours”, and it’s probably one of my favorite songs to listen to while traveling. There’s a verse that says,

I see Your fingerprints, the work of Your hands. It’s all in Your hands. I see the evidence, leaving nothing to chance The world’s in Your hands, so I rest in Your promises. Now I am sure of this, I’m Yours. So let the waters rise, I will stand as the oceans roar. Let the earth shake beneath me, let the mountains fall. You are God over the storm and I am Yours. Even the thunder and the wind obey at the command of my Father. I set my feet upon Your mighty name, so let the rain fall harder.

If there’s one thing Gods been teaching me, it’s how faithful He is. I’m definitely not as faithful as I should be sometimes, and it amazes me that God is still so faithful despite my unfaithfulness. I’m still trying to learn everything I write about because I definitely don’t have all this down yet. It’s a learning process, but I do know that trusting God in the big & little things of life is so much easier than trying to do things on my own.

Thanks for reading & I hope y’all have a great week!

Thought, Feeling, Action.

May 28, 2017

Our thought life is so important. Thoughts affect our daily life, health included. Thoughts become emotions. Emotions become our attitude. Our attitude is our reaction, and our daily reactions make up our lifestyle. Fear based emotions produce toxic attitudes, and toxic attitudes produce toxic responses in the body. You guys. It is so important to be cautious about what we fill our minds with. Whatever we think about the most, will grow. I’ve experienced this first hand, but on the negative side. It’s only been within the last year that I’ve really grown and known how affective our thoughts are.

A few weeks ago, my youth pastor taught on “Thought, Feeling, Action.” Also known as Mind, Heart, Hand. It’s common for people to try and change the actions and results they don’t like, without changing the thoughts and feelings that led to those actions and results in the first place.

I picked a Bible verse at the beginning of the year for 2017. It’s Philippians 4:8 and it’s probably become one of my favorite verses. It says –

“Finally brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things.”

My mom used to tell me this verse over, and over, and over, and I never really listened until she explained to me how important it is that we protect what we think about. We shouldn’t be dwelling on anything other than what is true, honorable, just, pure, lovely, commendable, excellent, and praise-worthy. Believe me when I tell you it takes a lot of work to get out of the habit of thinking negatively, but it’s so possible. And when you do it, it’s a game changer.

I know that I always love challenges, so, I wanna challenge y’all to take your thoughts captive this week. Are they true? Are they pure? Are they lovely? Have a great week!

Combatting Lies

May 17, 2017

Hi friends!

I’m gonna be honest with you guys. There’s been times where I struggle with not focusing on the truth and get caught up in the lies that come from me or other people. I’m sure you have been there before and it’s not always the best feeling. It’s probably because we give the lies the same authority as truth. Why should we hold them to the same standard? The truth is so high, and so solid and so constant, and cannot be shaken. Whereas lies are false and they will crumble.

When lies pop into our head, we shouldn’t be thinking “I need to combat this big lie with a big truth.” That’s all good, but we shouldn’t be giving this lie the same authority as truth. We should be combatting lies by ignoring them. That’s it. Get rid of em. Psalm 94 says

“When doubts filled my mind, Your comfort gave me renewed hope and cheer.”

Jesus literally comforts us. He is strong when we are weak. He is constant and He is here. The moment we believe & listen to the lies is the moment the devil gets us in a foothold and drags us down. I heard someone say this a few days ago and dang, it was good.

“The way people treat you and the things they say about you is not a reflection of you, but a reflection of them.”

Whether its people saying things to you, or it’s just the things you’re thinking. The lies are lies. Our value is not in the voices. Not the voice that says we’re getting bad grades, we need to try harder, we’re not good people, we’re gonna fail, things aren’t gonna work out, we’re not pretty enough or we’re worthless. Our value does not come from those things. Our value comes from the One who made us. God speaks to us in a language of love. If we’re focusing and speaking to ourselves in a negative way, we’re not gonna hear all the good things He’s trying to tell us about ourselves. He calls us lovely and that’s what we should be listening to.

Color Personalities

May 9, 2017

Hey hey friends! Color personality tests are something that I just started digging deeper in and something i think EVERYONE should take. There’s no right or wrong personality. Everyone is so different and so awesome no matter what your personality is. It’s even better when we understand how to be our best selves after learning more about it. It’s so helpful when people we’re around take it too so we can understand how to communicate better with them! You guys can look up any of these tests to see what personality type you are because it’s pretty awesome. Alright, lets do this.

Full Spectrum Success –

This is one of my favorites. There’s 4 different personality types in this one. Red, Blue, Green, & Yellow. They each tell you a troublesome shade (which is the shade when we don’t really understand how to use it), a typical shade (which is the shade where we kind of understand, but not using it to benefit us), and the true shade (which is the shade where we understand what will help us and make us better).

Reds: They are confident, & love challenges. They have a strong desire to win. Quick decision making skills. Like conflict. They don’t need the approval of others. They tend to move quickly towards goals. Mindful of others needs. Love the attention of victory. Spontaneous and outgoing, and they’re competitive.

Blues: They are mindful of others time. Consider consequences of their actions before they act. They are the life of the party and love to have fun. They have an energetic behavior and most people love to be around them. They focus to stay on track with goals and desires. They’re compassionate, helpful, detail-oriented, and enthusiastic.

Greens: Typically overanalyze things. Skeptical, but love to solve problems. They like details and they make well-informed, careful decisions. They always have a well thought out plan, they get to the bottom of a situation quickly. They’re valuable friends to have. They can empathize and help, form a solution, and stand firm. They’re often thinkers & inventors.

Yellows: Emotionally insecure, Often gullible, and indecisive. Friendly, loyal and honest. They love team activities and participation. They try to avoid conflict, but know how to express their emotions. They are responsible, disciplined, and observant. Capable of “tough love”. They’re the ultimate team members, supporters and peacemakers.

Usually when you take personality tests, they give you the top 2 you’re most like. I”m a Red-Yellow. They definitely got that right, but they’re complete opposite of each other, so it’s kinda interesting. Hahaha.

DISC Personality –

DISC stands for Dominance, Influence, Steadiness, Contentiousness.

D: Likes to be brief and to the point. Likes recognition and appreciation. Focused on results and will do anything to get there. Gets to the bottom of a problem quickly. (A lot like Red, huh?)

I: Likes to talk about themselves. Likes to be included, and talked to. Loves to have fun.

S: They like when people express genuine interest in them, give them support, and show sincere appreciation. They are patient and pleasant.

C: They provide facts. Like things detailed and accurate. Likes people to give them space, independence and time to analyze things.

I’m a DCSI.

Myers Briggs –

This test has 16 different personality types so i’m just gonna tell y’all what i got and what it is and you can totally look up the other 15 ones! It’s super interesting.

I got ENTJ-T which is the commander. They’re naturally curious. It means Extroverted, Intuitive, Thinking, and Judging.

Sometimes your personality changes. Usually it’s when something drastic happens. Good or bad. I used to be a yellow-blue, SCID, and an INFJ-T a few years ago. There’s been so many things that’ve happened since then. Some good, some bad. There was one thing that happened last year that really tested me and I think that’s when I became more of a Red personality. I really started investing in me and discovering who God made me to be. I believe that He made every one of us different so that we can help each other and encourage each other. If you guys haven’t taken any of these tests, i really encourage you to do that! They help us and the people around us. It can show us how to be better versions of ourselves and live out the life God is calling us to.

If you DO end up taking the tests, let me know what you got! Can’t wait to hear more about you!

Live Oola

May 7, 2017

I’m not a big fan of reading, but the Oola book changed it for me. Oola is finding balance and freedom in 7 different areas of your life. Faith, Fitness, Finance, Field, Family, Friends, and Fun. Here’s a few words from their book on what Oola is!

“Oola is a place we all shoot for. It’s the place where the major areas of our life, are balanced, strong, and growing. We’re achieving what we want to achieve. And we’re moving forward from where we are to where we want to be. Oola is that ultimate destination where everything just works. Life is manageable, fun, fulfilling and stress-free. But more than just a positive state of being, Oola is also the euphoria you feel when you celebrate success, or visit an exotic place. You revel in sheer joy and wonder of the moment. That’s Oola. It’s living an inspired life – one that you define. What the world says you should want, pursue, have or own makes no difference. It’s what you want that matters most. And what’s even more exciting is that, in the pursuit of Oola, you’ll likely become a different person. The process willl change you into someone who is more authentic and more honoring of your own needs – versus constantly suppressing who you are and what you want because it doesn’t fit the worlds definition of who you should be. The planet would be a very boring place if everyone were the same. Don’t be like anyone else. Stay true to your own self instead.”

I know i’m only 16, but I’ve learned that as you get older, life gets busier and you don’t have the time to do some of the things you used to. I’m focusing on prioritizing what’s important in life now so that that’ll become a routine and a foundation for the future. I wanna challenge you guys to start doing the same thing, no matter where you’re at in life.

1 Timothy 4:12 is a verse i try to live by. “Don’t let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in what you say, in the way you live, in your love, your faith, and your purity.” So good!

Trying to find balance in your life might seem like a struggle at first, but you will find freedom eventually. This book has helped so much! There’s a quote that says:

“Wrong is wrong even if everyone is doing it. Right is right even if nobody is doing it”

We will never influence the world by being like it. We’re called to stand out, be different, do what’s right. Jesus was called crazy & radical because he lived in direct contrast to the world. He wants us to find that balance and glorify him!

If any of you guys don’t have this book, or are like me, and don’t like reading, or even if you do have the book, but haven’t read it in awhile, I wanna challenge you guys to get it and start reading it. It’s seriously a game changer and you will benefit SO much from it! It’s freaking good stuff, you guys!

Thanks for reading, friends! If you have any questions or comments or anything, feel free to let me know!

Girl Boss

May 1, 2017

Hi friends! Thanks for joining me again! I wanna share another important thing in my life. Young Living has been a huge blessing in my family and I’s life. They’re an essential oil company and they have so many other products along with essential oils. Pretty much everything good in this world. I know it sounds kinda hippie-ish, but you guys. Don’t knock it til you try it! They are AMAAAAZING. Literally, they work for so many different things and they’re completely toxin-free. So, win-win!

So, what the heck are they?

Essential Oils are the most powerful part of the plant. They are distilled from shrubs, flowers, trees, roots, bushes, fruits, rinds, resins, and herbs. Oils consist of over 100 different natural, organic compounds. In humans, they provide support for every system in the body. Your skeletal system, muscular system, circulatory system, endocrine system and your hormones, respitory system, and your immune system. They support brain health and a healthy weight.

Why do we need them?

Did you know the average person applies 300 chemicals to their body every single day, and 80 of those chemicals are before breakfast! We are literally poisoning our families everyday with the stuff we cant pronounce in our home. Like that bright blue dish soap, the cleaner we use for our kitchen counters, processed foods and so much more. Oils are a much better way because you can use them to replace toxic products in your home.

Why Young Living?

One of the things that stands out to me is Young Livings seed to seal process. It’s a promise of integrity. The owner, Gary Young, has said that he never makes and oil for profit. He makes it for a purpose. Seed to Seal means each plant is hand-weeded. There are no pesticides used, no chemicals, and no weed killers. The plants are harvested at their peak. They’re then put in a vigorous testing process. Then they go from the farm, directly  to your home. Seed to Seal is a promise that YL has!

How quickly do they work?

22 seconds and the molecules reach the brain. 2 minutes and they’re found in the bloodstream. 20 minutes and they will affect every cell in the body. How freaking cool is that??

God has blessed us with this company & business and has allowed us to impact others with this stuff and help them find freedom physically, emotionally, spiritually and financially. This stuff is seriously the best!

Thanks for joining! <3

Jesus, Jesus, Jesus

April 25, 2017

Hey guys! I figured I would write about this topic for one of my first posts since it’s the most important thing in my life.

I became a Christian when I was 13, and my life totally changed because of it. I know most people say they got saved at a young age, but I was a little bit older, and searching. The Bible says that no one seeks after God, so even me searching was a total gift from Him. Since that day, I’ve been trying to live a life of full surrender and worship to Him. I have to put my daily wants down and continue to follow Jesus. It’s not always easy and there have been some really tough times. There were some things that happened this past year that totally sucked and ripped me up, and I’m sure you guys can relate. Instead of turning to other things to get my mind off of the hurt, I grieved for a little while and didn’t run away from the pain. I faced it with the help of Jesus and it healed. Jesus gave me such a peace about that situation and allowed me to grow so much through it. God doesn’t allow us to be in pain for the sake of hurting, but for the sake of learning. When Jesus died on the cross, he took all the pain, and hurt, and abandonment, and suffering of our sins upon himself so that our relationship with Him could be restored. Every disappointment, heartbreak, and hard time is another chance to walk by faith. With Jesus, I have hope, strength and joy that this world cannot take away.

There’s a quote that says “The question is not, ‘why is there only one way to God?’, but ‘why is there EVEN one way?'” We were literally dead. Dead in our sin. We can’t run to Jesus on our own. We can’t try to do good things to get closer to Him because no one seeks after God. But, Jesus came and gave His life as a ransom for many so that our relationship with Him could be restored. My dad told me once that this life is like a conveyor belt. Everyone is on it, heading away from God because no one is righteous enough and no one seeks Him. Once God chooses us, He picks us up and puts us on a new path and totally redirects us. Like, what even? How cool is that? God’s love for us is more than we can even imagine.

God’s plan doesn’t always make sense, but its a great reminder to know that His plans, thoughts and ways are always higher than our plans, thoughts and ways. Growing (in our faith and so many other areas) requires stretching and stretching can be painful. No pain, no gain. It’s often uncomfortable when we’re taken out of our comfort zone and required to grow. Christianity is not a comfortable faith. It calls us to get comfortable with being uncomfortable. Jesus is with us, helping us through everyday though. He is a friend that sticks closer than a brother. He gives us peace in difficult times. He never leaves and He loves us with an unconditional love.

Embracing growth is so important and it’s helped me so much over these past few months. Our lives reflect what we worship, whether its God or not. I’m not always the best at this because I do make mistakes and mess up sometimes but I’m thankful for a God that gives us grace upon grace, and loves unconditionally.

James 4:1-2 “Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trails of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything”

April 22, 2017

Hi friends! I’m Stephanie. I’m 16, from Ohio, a lover of Jesus, good food, Essential Oils, and so many other things. I have a business that I’m very passionate about, I have an awesome group of friends, and I have an amazing family. I have 5 other siblings, and I wouldn’t trade them for the world (well, sometimes), but for the most part, they’re pretty cool. Since there’s 8 of us, it’s pretty much a party anytime we’re together. My parents are so loving towards us and they’re great role models. My brothers and sisters are protective and loud and crazy and fun. We adopted my 3 brothers, and even though its been a HUGE blessing, there’s been some challenging days, too. My brothers definitely get on my nerves 97% of the time, but that’s what they’re there for, right? We love to travel, and we try to go different places whenever we get the chance. As you can tell, my blog is called “From Where I Stand” and i thought it was very fitting because i want to start blogging about things from my perspective and where i stand on certain topics. Like, anything from my faith, to relationships, to social media, to health and so many other things!

Thank y’all so much for reading my first blog post! (It’s only taken me like a year to get it started, haha!). I hope you’ll stick around to hear more about my crazy life!

I’ll leave you guys with one of my favorite verses and a great reminder!

“So, my dear brothers and sisters, be strong and immovable. Always work enthusiastically for the Lord, for you know that nothing you do for the Lord is ever useless” 1 Corinthians 15:58
