Never Alone

September 26, 2017

The past couple months, it’s been hard for me to really grasp the fact that God is with me. Not only in the silence, but also in the crazy chaos of everyday. I was reading a post from this girl, and she was talking about confession, how it’s so important to have accountability, and for you to have those people you can talk to anything about. I started praying for someone that would come along side me, help me, and just let us be open with each other. I started praying to be able to see Gods hand in every area of my life. I started praying for God to help me see and recognize that He is with me every day. I hope I’m not the only person that feels this way. It’s hard sometimes to believe when we can’t physically see God. But He calls us to walk by faith, not by sight.

This past week, all of those prayers have been answered. When God speaks, you know. It’s so clear and so good. I’m gonna be honest with you. I was praying a few days ago and just asked God where He was taking me, and where He was. I know that once you’re saved, the Holy Spirit is always with you, but I was caught up in the business of this world, and didn’t have time to slow down and just listen to what God was telling me. When I was silent, and stopped thinking about what needed to do, or who I needed to talk to, and got the focus off of myself, He spoke. I think that’s the reason we don’t notice that God is with us, or it’s hard for us to hear from Him and differentiate what type of voices we’re hearing. We’re too caught up with us. We only think about ourselves and what we wanna do. I know I’m guilty of this, and it’s hard to take your eyes off yourself and look towards God and others before yourself.

I went to our youth group on Wednesday night & then church on Sunday & they both taught how God is with us. He never abandons us. The Holy Spirit is with us everywhere we go. Even if it’s just to get some coffee, or to go to the store. God never leaves us. He’s not only present when we’re thinking about Him, or when we’re praying. He continually surrounds us with His presence. When God speaks, it’s so amazing.

I know when I start thinking about why I feel this way, or don’t always feel like God is with me, I beat myself up. That’s exactly what the devil wants us to do. He hates when we look towards God and give Him our problems. The devil wants us to focus on ourselves all day and make us feel bad for feeling certain ways. When we shift our focus to God instead of ourselves, our worldly problems seem smaller. We see how amazing God is. We see ourselves how God sees us, radically loved. We see how near God is to us.

Friends, life is hard. We don’t always see how things are gonna work out, (and if you’re like me, that can drive you crazy 😉 ), how God is gonna use our situations to bring glory to Him, and we’re not always gonna feel like God is near. But we shouldn’t rely on our feelings. Choose facts instead of fear. And the fact is that God is with us, every single moment. Whether we feel like it, or not.

It is the Lord who goes before you. He will be with you, He will not leave you, or forsake you. Do not fear or be dismayed. -Deuteronomy 31:8
